Salsa Music Therapy is part of Allied Health Services and we work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
We attend homes, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, disability organisations and other similar facilities within the community setting.
Our therapists are trained in coaching, counselling and music skills.
ASSESSMENT PROCESS
We assess each client according to their personal needs and then work with them to set goals. The music coach will deliver a weekly music program to help achieve these set goals.
We use a wide range of music therapy techniques such as vocalisation, movement, rocking, relaxation, listening to music, dancing and playing instruments. This enables our clients to create their own musical language, to communicate and interact with their inner selves and with those around them.
We also plan and carry out personalised program based no each client’s individual needs and abilities. Such programs include regular follow-ups, coaching plans and evaluation.
COACHING PLANS
We offer group sessions of Salsa Music Therapy, and one-on-one sessions
We assess changes in mood and changes in emotions towards music, as well as changes found in demeanour, body language and changes in awareness of mood after each session
With coaching individuals experience an improvement in general mood, attitudes, emotional relief, feelings of comfort, security. This develops an empathic mindset, improving social interaction. Coaching has been shown to improve emotional health of dementia sufferers. We offer different options, tailored towards each individual case.
